Tom of Finland is the nickname for the Finnish artist Tuoko Laaksonen (1920, Kaarina – 1991, Helsinki). He signed his erotic work “Tom” and after the first illustrations were published in 1957, the world-famous “Tom of Finland” was born.

He is first and foremost known for his homoerotic art and influence on contemporary cultural space. For forty years, he produced nearly 3,500 drawings and paintings, mostly drawn for men.

This exhibition is the first to focus on Tom’s photographic art combined with his drawings to illustrate his artistic process. The exhibition was produced by Fotografiska in collaboration with the Tom of Finland Foundation for the artist’s 100th birthday.

The exhibition “The Darkroom” will be opened from the February 21st until the April 19th.
